What is #10Questions

#10Questions is a Twitter interview between one of our candidates and our founder, Holly Figueroa O'Reilly. Follow along with us on our BWCS Twitter.

#10Questions begins 🔥NOW with #BlueWave2018🌊candidate @ABrindisiNY, looking to unseat Claudia Tenney in #NY22. Welcome, Anthony, so glad you could join us! Ready to answer #10Questions? #COTD #BWCS

"Yes! Let's go!"

All right! Q1: We’ll start with the first question we ask everyone: what inspired you to run for office? #NY22 #BWCS #10Questions

"I first ran for the school board before I ran for the NY Assembly because I have 2 young kids and public education is very important to me. I look at politics as public service and serving the needs of my community and not like a game played by corporate elites and Beltway insiders."

Q2: This past year, millions of Americans were close to losing their health insurance due to the multiple GOP-led attempts at repealing the ACA. How is the ACA perceived in #NY22, and how can you bring people who don’t like it into the fold? #BWCS #10Questions

"Many people have benefited from the ACA and Medicaid expansion in #NY22. The answer is not to repeal the ACA and kick millions off their health insurance. We need to address rising premiums to bring more into the fold and we can start by cracking down on high prescription drug costs."

Q3: There have been several ICE raids in NY this year, including in Western New York where the ICE raids seemed to target Muslims at 7/11s. What kind of legislation would you introduce or support to protect these families and DREAMers? #NY22 #BWCS #10Questions

"We need a clean DACA bill and an immigration plan that allows families to come out of the shadows. Agriculture is our top industry in #NY22 and immigrant labor is vital to this part of our economy. No workers means food prices go up and family farms won’t survive."

Q4: Gun safety has been on everyone’s minds since the Parkland school shooting in February and again today with the shooting at Youtube. What measures will you take in Congress to make sure that our schools are safe? #NY22 #BWCS #10Questions

"We need more funding for school safety and mental health but we also need common sense reforms to cut down on gun violence such as comprehensive background checks to keep guns out of the hands of dangerous people. We also need a Representative who is not beholden to the gun lobby."

Q5: The #MeToo and #TimesUp movements have brought sexual assault and violence into the mainstream discussion in the past few months. What’s the first thing Congress can do to help combat sexual harassment in the workplace? #NY22 #BWCS #10Questions

"Sexual harassment is unacceptable behavior and should never be tolerated in any workplace. The first thing Congress should do is stop allowing taxpayer dollars to go towards paying to cover sexual harassment claims."

Q6: #NY22 is part of the Rust Belt. Binghamton and Utica, the two largest towns in #NY22, have a poverty rate between 25-30%, more than twice the national average. What’s the first thing you’ll do to address poverty if elected? #BWCS #10Questions

"The two biggest barriers to lifting people out of poverty in #NY22 is lack of access to childcare and transportation. We need to invest more in childcare and public transportation options. We need strong public schools to prepare students for the 21st Century economy."

Q7: Your opponent, Claudia Tenney, has been particularly vocal about her support of Trump, which doesn’t seem like a winning strategy in a district that went for Obama in '08 and '12 before pivoting. Can you work with Trump? #BWCS #10Questions

"Unlike my opponent who called Democrats mass murderers, I'm willing to work with anyone to fix the issues that are in front of us. It’s also my job to be vocal in my opposition to the President if his policies harm the people I hope to represent."

Q8: This question was too long for one tweet! Here's a screenshot instead. #BWCS #10Questions #NY22

"Yes, I am working on legislation in NY to create an Alternative Dispute Resolution Program for Veterans referred to the criminal justice system. We need more funding for Veteran Treatment Courts so our heroes returning home from overseas have the support and resources they need."

Thank you so much for answering our questions today! Here are the last two that we have: 9) What is one issue we haven’t covered today that is an important one affecting your district, and 10) where can people learn more about your campaign and how to support it? #10Questions

"NY22 is one of the most beautiful places in the US. Clean air and water are so important to our tourism industry. Climate change is real and we need to do something about it.
